Cng Conversion Kits Keep The Air Clean

CNG stands for ‘compressed natural gas’ and is a very clean and environmentally safe alternative fuel to gasoline and diesel. Natural gas is created over millions of years in pockets within the earth through constant pressure and changes in the geology of the earth. This gas is a fossil fuel and consists of hydrogen an carbon commonly known as ‘methane’. When the natural gas is stored for use in vehicles it is compressed and so it is called ‘compressed natural gas’. CNG is commonly supplied to homes, offices and businesses for heating, cooking and lighting.

This is how the CNG conversion kits use natural gas to power vehicles: The CNG is first compressed and stored in the vehicles compressed natural gas tank. From there it is injected into the combustion chamber through the carburetor. There is no need for the carburetor to vaporize the gas as it is already in a gaseous form. The carburetor has one primary function and that is to turn the liquid fuel into a vapor ‘ this process is called ‘atomization’ or ‘ionization’. With CNG this process is eliminated.

When the CNG leaves the tank it is cold and semi-liquid. This state has to be changed in order for the gas to combust in the chamber. In order to vaporize the gas completely the gas from the tank is fed into a diaphragm chamber that is hooked up with the engine cooling system through water pipes.

A series of water pipes are connected to a leather diaphragm within a metal container. This is called the ‘vaporizer’. The CNG from the tank enters here and the hot water from the radiator and the engine of the vehicle is circulated around the diaphragm. The heat from the water vaporizes the CNG completely and also raises the pressure of the gas enabling it to be forced into the combustion chamber to power the engine.

CNG conversion kits are easily installed in vehicles and come fitted by the vehicles manufacturer or it can be fitted privately in new and old vehicles alike. Running a vehicle on CNG is very economical and cuts out a on maintenance because the wear and tear of the vehicle is reduced considerably.
